Meditation and Paddling, The Broken Islands, BC

Wow! I’m so excited to offer this event this summer.

Meditation and Paddling, The Broken Islands

with Erin Anderson and wilderness guide Colin Fox.

This trip is a supported opportunity to experience meditation in the deep nourishment of nature.
The Broken Islands is gorgeous terrain, sheltered from the big waves of the open ocean. We will explore meditation and mindfulness techniques, beautiful paddles around the islands, collaborative camp building, options for supported journal practice, and discover the rich history of the Broken Group.

This will be a small group of maximum 10 participants, along with Colin and I.
The adventure happens on July 17th – 21, 2017

Cost is $950.    Hold your spot with $350 deposit.   (Finalize booking and full payment by May 27.)

The trip is suitable for most ages and abilities.
As we prepare for our trip, in the weeks leading up to departure, Colin and I will offer support by helping you to organize your gear and assist you in securing your travel plans.

Our schedule:

Monday July 17th, we’ll meet at Toquart Bay, near Ucluelet, at 9 am.  (Participants may wish to camp over night

Here participants will have a meet and greet to get acquainted and we’ll introduce the themes of our week.  Then, we’ll have to check our gear, learn to pack the double kayak and get a safety lesson.  We’ll make our way onto the water for our first paddle, and begin our adventure.

Colin and I will offer guidance and we will support each other, as a group, as we get camp organized for our first night.

Tues -Thurs, our not-too-early mornings will be gentle with group meditation at 7:30, some movement and thematic discussions, nourishing breakfast and Colin’s delicious coffee.

Then, by late morning, we’ll be out on the water.  Usually, we have a destination picnic lunch.

Then, depending on where our travels take us, we’ll share some silence and exploration of mindfulness practice on land and in boat.

Depending on availability and what we decide as a group, we may move camp during our week, or we might stay put.  Evening times will include sharing camp maintenance, food, and hopefully a fire.  All participants are welcome to take silence or quiet time as they wish.

Friday July 21st, we’ll return to our start point at Tolcourt Bay mid afternoon, to allow for travel time.

Gear provided:  All participants will be provided with a shared double kayak, paddles and a PDF, food and the equipment required to prepare it, fire making tools, wilderness radio etc.   (This is not a complete list)

Gear to bring: please bring a tent (tent share may be arranged), sleeping bag, dry sacks for your gear and personal items.  (Dry bags can be found at gear swaps, MEC, many other outdoor outfitters) hat!  Sunscreen! (This is not a complete list)

  2. Hello Erin,

I love the idea of this trip. I wish I could attend but hope that it will be successful this year and you will offer it again. I have added the event to thriveontheisland.ca but didn’t have a great image to go with it. Can you send me something at kim at thriveontheisland.ca, please. 450 x 300 pixels is the size of the image needed. thanks
